Dear dA staff (and those with DD privileges),
Please be aware that when you feature an image as a Daily Deviation, you are subjecting the recipient to the opinions of everyone on the site. Now, I'm not saying people don't share their opinions on images that don't receive DDs; I'm saying that by posting an image across the bottom of a webpage that gets almost four million visits every week, you are making their work much more accessible to the masses than if it had been left where it was.
I know that some of you believe that this site consists of caring people that will refrain from saying rude and downright mean things, but this is not the case. DeviantART is full of socially-inappropriate assholes who do nothing but sit around and crush artists' hopes that people genuinely want to help them get better at drawing by constructively critiquing their work. ... about gender minorities.

On Spirit Day (and all other days, really) people only seem to focus on the LGB part of the queer community. While it's great that it comes into light at all, it's still a problem for people that fall into gender minorities.

49% of trans* people attempt suicide. 1 in 12 are murdered. These statistics are significantly higher for transgender women, a lot higher for trans* people of color, and are astronomically higher for transgender women of color.

I can almost guarantee that anyone that comes across this deviation didn't know this. Why is that? I'm sure you can name at least one case in which a person who identified as lesbian, gay, bisexual, or any other sexuality has committed suicide.

But what about trans people? Or people with non-binary genders? Did you even know there were more that two genders? Did you assume that gender was related to sexuality? The general public is vastly uninformed about the 'T' in 'LGBT'.

Please take the time to do some research about transgender and gender non-conforming people. Just five minutes is all it takes. And remember us, okay?
